Gov. Tony Evers last week announced nearly every school district across the state, including more than 450 local education agencies, would be awarded funds through the governor’s $15 million “Get Kids Ahead” initiative. On Tuesday, he visited Arcadia Elementary School and distributed just over $81-thousand to the School Districts of Arcadia, Blair-Taylor, Whitehall, and Independence. Other districts in the area receiving funds include: Alma Center Humbird-Merrillan, Augusta, Bangor, Cashton, Melrose-Mindoro, and Neillsville each receiving nearly $20-thousand. Black River Falls and Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau get about $30-thousand respectively. The Sparta and Tomah Area School Districts were awarded just over $50-thousand each. The Governor says these funds will go towards mental health support and services kids need to be successful both in and out of the classroom…to help them grow, learn, and get ahead.
