(Franklin, WI) — Officials with the Franklin Public School District estimate that “a couple hundred” families had to make last-minute arrangements for the first day of school when some buses didn’t run. W-T-M-J/T-V reports the bus company, First Student, notified the district late Tuesday that it had a bus driver shortage and 20 routes wouldn’t be covered – then six more routes weren’t running because drivers called in sick. The district was able to cover all but 10 routes. The school district says most of the routes are covered for next week.
