On October 21, 2024, at about 6:53 PM, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office received a
report of a vehicle crash on State Highway 108 in the Town of Melrose. Initial reports
were that a passenger car rear-ended a large grain truck and there were occupants
pinned inside.
On scene, the driver of the passenger car was found deceased. The other occupant
was transported via medical helicopter for further treatment.
The name of the deceased will be withheld pending family notification.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Wisconsin State Patrol,
Melrose Fire Department, Melrose First Responders, and the Black River Falls
Ambulance.
The case is still under investigation.
