Update 8:30 PM 3/8/2024

The crash scene has been cleared and both highways of STH 95 / CTH J has been opened for traffic. Both of the vehicles involved in the crash, the semi and passenger van, have been removed.
As a result of the crash, 9 people have died. One person was in the semi, the driver, and was pronounced dead at the scene by Coroner Clarissa Rochester. There were 9 people in the van, 8 of them including the driver died at the scene. One passenger in the van was taken to the Marshfield St. Joseph’s Hospital as a result of their injuries.
The Clark County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene with the Wisconsin State Patrol, the Hatfield Fire and Rescue Department, the Neillsville Area Ambulance, the Clark County Highway Department and the Clark County Coroner’s Office.
The names of everyone involved are not being released at this time pending notification of family members. The crash was reported at 7:53 AM.
The investigation is still on going at this time.

Update 2:12 PM
Preliminary reports indicate a semi tractor trailer was traveling east on State Highway 95 approaching the intersection of J. As the semi tractor was approaching, a van was driving north on County Highway J. The van continued north, entering the intersection and was struck by the semi driving east.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office with the Wisconsin State Patrol have reported a fatal crash on STH 95 by CTH J in the Township of Dewhurst. The crash happened this morning (March 8, 2024) around 8 am.

STH 95 is closed at that location while officers are conducting a crash investigation.

No further information is available at this time, but additional information is expected to released, according to Clark County Sheriff James Hirsch.

The public is asked to avoid the area.
