Wisconsin State Patrol is investigating a fatal rollover crash involving a commercial motor vehicle. Troopers were called to the westbound lanes near mile marker 115, where a semi-truck left the roadway and came to rest several hundred feet into a ditch. The tractor-trailer struck multiple trees, causing severe damage to the cab and trailer.
The driver, 58-year-old Russell Back of Mondovi, Wisconsin, died from injuries sustained in the crash.
Investigators say another commercial motor vehicle was in the area at the time of the crash and did not stop. That second vehicle has since been located near Menomonie and identified. Authorities are still determining whether it played a role in the crash.
The incident remains under investigation.
