Florence Arlene Shelley, age 94, of rural Blair, died on Tuesday, December 27,
2022 in her home with her two sisters by her side.
Florence was born on September 25, 1928 in rural Blair to Edward and Levea
(Andrews) Flaaten. She married Basil Shelley on June 4, 1948 in the Zion
Lutheran Church in Blair. Basil preceded Florence in death on May 6, 2011.
Florence and Basil farmed the home farm of Basil’s parents along with her
brother-in-law, Orrin Shelley. In 1993 Florence, Basil and Orrin moved to their
new home in Blair. In 2017, Florence moved to her sister JoAnn Johnson’s
home in rural Blair due to health problems.
Florence was a wonderful caregiver to her family, mother-in-law, mother and
brother.
Florence is survived by her two sisters, JoAnn Johnson and Donna Skaugh;
many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to her parents and husband, Florence was preceded in death by four
sisters, Louise (Bill) Meyer, Edna (Albin) Johnson, Julia (Arthur) Hanke and Mary
Ann (Larry) Bradley; a brother, Andrew Flaaten and two brothers-in-law, Norman
Johnson and Marvin Skaugh.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 30, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. in the
Trempealeau Valley Lutheran Church in rural Taylor. Pastor Natalie Leske will
officiate. Burial will be in the Trump Coulee Cemetery in the town of Franklin,
Jackson County, WI.
