This weekend, June 7 and 8, Dane County and City of Madison Parks are offering a permit-free weekend, inviting the public to explore the outdoors without the usual permit fees.

County Executive Melissa Agard says it’s a chance to boost mental and physical well-being while enjoying the natural beauty of our local parks.

🌿 What’s Included?

Boating, fishing, and paddling on Dane County lakes and rivers

Access to eight off-leash dog parks (dogs must be licensed and vaccinated)

Free play at two top-rated disc golf courses: Vallarta-Ast and Capital Springs

Biking on the scenic Capital City Trail

Mountain biking at CamRock and Seminole trails

Equestrian trails across five parks

Use of the Tenney Locks on Lake Mendota

🌸 With prairies in bloom and wildlife active, it’s the perfect time to enjoy the county’s 18,000 acres and over 100 miles of trails.

While the park system is always free to enter, some activities usually require permits—those fees help maintain the amenities. If you enjoy your experience, consider buying a permit at reservedane.com.
