The regular monthly meeting for the Jackson County Forestry & Parks Department was held at 8:30am on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at the Jackson County Courthouse. Those in attendance were: Ed Chamberlain, Tom Clark, Jerry Schmidt, Dale Hoff, John Higgins, Jim Zahasky, Dave Spaude, Jeremy Breheim and Ashley Stetzer.


The regular meeting was called to order at 8:30am by Chairman Ed Chamberlain
A motion was made by John Higgins to approve the minutes from the December meeting, the motion was seconded by Dale Hoff, all members voted in favor.

A motion to approve the bills for payment was made by John Higgins, seconded by Dale Hoff. All members voted in favor.

Zach Clausing and Christina Kizewski were present from the DNR and gave updates. The gun deer harvest was down 11%.

Dave Spaude presented the Forestry report. Thing are basically the same as the previous month, no new, news to report.


Jeremy Breheim gave the Parks report. Currently working on year end purchase and maintenance items.
Trails have been busy hauling rock on a section of trail from Waterbury Road to White creek. The Clipper bridge has also been moved down in Northfield.

Jim requested permission to advertise for bids on a one-ton pick-up with a snowplow and a equipment trailer. A motion to approve the request and go out for bids was made by John Higgins, the motion was seconded by Dale Hoff, all members voted in favor.

At the December meeting Dave discussed a salvage sale. A motion to approve the previously discussed sale, JC-2683 that was sold to D&D Mechanized Pulping, was made by John Higgins, seconded by Dale Hoff. All members voted in favor.

A motion to adjourn at 9:15am was made by John Higgins, the motion was seconded by Dale Hoff. All members voted in favor. The next meeting will be at the Jackson County Courthouse at 8:30am on February 13, 2024.
