Garnet L. Betthauser, 95, of Oakdale, was called home Thursday June 18, 2026, at Our Town Tomah. She was born to Harry and Lucy (Huntington) Larson in LaCrosse, WI on September 17, 1930. She was member of the Tomah Senior High School Class of 1948. She was united in marriage to LaVern “Barney” Betthauser on October 24, 1951, at St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Together they farmed in the Town of Oakdale all their lives. Garnet started her working career at the Schultz Brothers Dime Store, then she went to work for Bell Telephone that became Northwest Telephone, PTI and then CenturyTel. Garnet worked for the telephone company for over 40 years. Garnet was a member of the Oakdale Homemakers Club and bowled on the Oakdale Credit Union and The Rustic Bowling Teams, she also enjoyed working in her garden and canning, She was the hardworking “Farmer’s Wife.” Barney and Garnet also enjoyed their trips to the casino together. She was an excellent cook, and made delicious Fried Chicken, she was also an excellent baker and was known for her chocolate cake and chocolate chip cookies. Every Christmas she made cut out cookies and Christmas candies with her good friend Janet Ganther. The most important thing to Garnet was her family, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her grandchildren will always remember the “Back to School” sleepovers at grandmas and her chocolate chip pancakes. She was a faithful member of the Queen of the Apostle’s Catholic Church at St. Mary’s. She will be sadly missed by all that knew and loved her.

She is survived by her son, David (Jeri) of Tomah, their children Kevin (Rachel)of St. Louis, MO and their daughter Vivienne, Kelsey (Josh) Albarado of New Richmond and their children Tate and Emma, her son Mark (Kristi) of Tomah, Maci Betthauser of Eau Claire, and Brandon Betthauser of LaCrosse, a daughter Jean (Jeff) Drinkman of Tomah, their children Tanner Dworak of LaCrosse, Taylor (Michael) Klaver of South Milwaukee, Hannah Drinkman of Eau Claire, Cole Drinkman of Tomah, many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband LaVern “Barney” Betthauser, her sisters and brothers-in-laws Lillian and Ray Jensen, Muriel and Evan Augustine, Laverna and Ellis Williams, 2 brothers Richard and Karon Larsen, and Stanley Larson, 2 brothers-in-law Carroll Betthauser, Gerald and Evelyn Betthauser, and a sister-in-law Gwen and Wendell Hagen.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, 11:00 A.M at Queen of the Apostles Parish at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 303 W Monroe St. Father Ethan Hokamp will officiate. Burial will be in the Oakdale Cemetery.

Relatives and friends are invited to a time of visitation on Monday, June 29, 2026 from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, 801 E. Monowau St. and at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 A.M until the time of the service. Online condolences may be sent to http://www.sonnenburgfamilyfh.com.

A Parish Rosary will be held on Monday at the funeral home at 3:30 PM.
