Gaylord Irvin Peterson, age 72, of Blair, died on Sunday, September 22, 2024 in
the Gundersen Health System in LaCrosse.
Gaylord was born on March 27, 1952 in Whitehall to Irvin and Verna (Lindberg)
Peterson. Gaylord was united in marriage to Vicki Tiepelman on May 12, 1979.
They later divorced. He married Cindy Longseth on October 15, 1994 in the
Fagernes Lutheran Church in rural Blair.
Gaylord was employed at AMPI in Blair for 40 years before retiring in 2017.
On July 21, 2017 Gaylord received a lung transplant from a generous family
donor. In 2021 he received a civic award from the Blair Cheese Fest Committee.
Gaylord was active with the food stand for the yearly Cheesefest for many years.
Gaylord attended the Fagernes Lutheran Church all his life and held the jobs of
Cemetery President, Fagernes Church President, council member for many
years, as well as an usher.
Gaylord is survived by his wife, Cindy; son, Jarrod Peterson; daughter, Mara
(Scout) Gerndt; three grandchildren, Delorean Peterson, Layla Peterson and
Ellison Gerndt; sister, Fern Peterson; brother, Dean Peterson; several nieces,
nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, sisters
and brothers-in-law.
In addition to his parents, Gaylord was preceded in death by a daughter, Jenna;
siblings, Lana Anderergg, Lyle Peterson, Janet Burki and Darlene Farnsworth.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 4, 2024 from 4-7p.m. in the Fagernes
Lutheran Church in rural Blair. Visitation will also be one hour before services
with the services beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at the
Fagernes Lutheran Church in rural Blair. Pastor Mark Kvale will officiate. Burial
will be in the church cemetery following services.
