Gertrude I. (Woof) Bue, age 94, passed away on December 6, 2022 at Tri-County
Memorial Hospital, Whitehall, Wisconsin. She previously had been a resident at
Grand View Care Center in Blair, Wisconsin since the end of May when she had
broken her hip.
Gertrude was born on October 5, 1928 to John and Elizabeth (Hermanson) Woof
in Black River Falls, Wisconsin. She married Edward “Charley” Bue on November
25, 1950 in Blair, Wisconsin. They lived their entire married life in Black River
Falls. They had three children, Fred, Freda and Pam.
Gertrude in her younger years worked at Ben Franklin (the little dime store) and
for Dr. Boehm, optometrist. She also worked at Fishers Shoe and Clothing, Bible
Trucking and The County Goose as their bookkeeper.
After her retirement she and Charley could be seen at the restaurant in
downtown Black River Falls having breakfast and enjoying the company of many
friends. She was involved with the Black River Falls Memorial Hospital Auxiliary,
and a member of the Methodist Church where she enjoyed being involved with
the prayer group and the Methodist women groups. At the care center she loved
playing bingo and loved showing what prize she had won.
Gertrude is survived by her daughters Freda (Barry) Goldsmith of Hixton and Pam
Bue of Black River Falls; grandsons Glen (Abbi) Goldsmith of Hixton and Chad
(Molly Reineke) Goldsmith of Black River Falls; two great granddaughters Adaline
and Hanna Goldsmith of Hixton. She is further survived by her sister Betty
(Kenny) Anderson of Black River Falls, brothers Michael Woof of Blair and Steven
Woof of Black River Falls. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charley, her sons Frederick “Fred” Bue
and an infant son Roger; her parents John and Elizabeth Woof and her sister
Margaret (Woof) Bue.
Services will be from Torgerson’s Funeral Home on Sunday, December 11 th with
visitation from 1-2 pm with the service at 2 pm; burial will be at Riverside
Cemetery immediately following the service. A celebration of Gertrude’s life will
be held at the American Legion in Black River Falls following internment.
