Gloria A. Haugen, 76, of West Salem, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2026, at Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse.
Gloria was born on February 27, 1950, in Black River Falls, Wisconsin, to Russell and Elmeda (McElroy) Gonia. She grew up in West Salem and graduated from West Salem High School with the Class of 1968.
After high school, Gloria made her home in Sparta, where she devoted herself to raising her five children, who were always the center of her world. For more than 25 years, Gloria worked at Linda’s Bakery in West Salem, where she took great pride in her work.
Gloria found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She was an enthusiastic Milwaukee Brewers fan, looked forward to Tuesday night bingo at Features in West Salem, and loved making trips to the casino with her family. Whether cheering on the Brewers, sharing laughs over bingo, or enjoying time with loved ones, Gloria’s smile and sense of fun made every gathering a little brighter.
She is survived by her children, Kevin (Monica) Mauel, Michelle (Erik) Mauel-Malek, Nicole Mauel (Ryon Oyen), Rob Haugen, and Ashley Haugen; her grandchildren, Liz, Alison, Hunter, Malachi, Devon, Jazmyn, Nick, Ethan, Trevor, and Arriah; her great-granddaughter, Rosalina; her longtime companion, Archie Stumlin; her sisters, Sandy (Dave) Du Mez and Linda Knutson; her brother, Dennis Gonia; her sister-in-law, Sandy Hammond Gonia; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Elmeda Gonia; her brothers, Blaine Gonia and Gene Gonia; her brother-in-law, Robert “Bob” Knutson; and her former husband, Robert “Bob” Haugen.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, August 21, 2026, at Fredrickson Funeral Home, 121 N. Youlon St., West Salem. Burial will follow at Neshonoc Cemetery.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
