Governor Tony Evers has signed Executive Order #255, directing U.S. and Wisconsin state flags to be flown at half-staff on Saturday, March 15, 2025, in honor of Firefighter and Emergency Medical Responder Lori A. Boelkes. Boelkes, who passed away in the line of duty on February 27 at age 56, served as a volunteer firefighter and EMR for over a decade in New Auburn and Warrens.

Gov. Evers praised her bravery and dedication, offering condolences to her loved ones. In addition to her service, Boelkes worked as a veterinary assistant and vehicle detailer and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, crafting, and bow hunting.

The order remains in effect from sunrise to sunset on March 15.
