Visits to highlight governor’s plan to send 20 percent of state’s sales tax back to local communities, fund essential services like public safety
MADISON — Gov. Tony Evers will tomorrow, Mon., Feb. 20, 2023, visit Racine, Eau Claire, and Wausau as part of a statewide tour following his 2023-25 Biennial Budget Message. He will be joined by Wisconsin Department of Revenue (DOR) Secretary Peter Barca, local leaders, and first responders to highlight is plan to send 20 percent of the state’s sales tax back to local communities through shared revenue and fund essential services like fire, EMS, and law enforcement. At 9:15 a.m., Gov. Evers and Secretary Barca will visit the Racine Fire Department, where they will be joined by Racine Mayor Cory Mason. Following the visit to Racine, at 11:45 a.m., they will visit Eau Claire Fire Department Station 10, where they will be joined by Eau Claire City Manager Stephanie Hirsch. Finally, at 1:45 p.m., Gov. Evers and Secretary Barca will visit Wausau Fire Department Station 1, where they will be joined by Wausau Mayor Katie Rosenberg.

Attendees must follow all local public health and updated CDC guidance to prevent the spread of COVID-19, including, as appropriate, mask wearing and social distancing.
