Head On Collision Leaves One with Serious Injuries

Authorities in Trempealeau County are investigating a head-on crash that happened Friday night near Whitehall.

According to the Trempealeau County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 9:53 p.m. to State Road 121 near County Road QQQ in the City of Whitehall for a two-vehicle crash.

Investigators say a white Ford Fusion was traveling eastbound in the westbound lane when it collided head-on with a silver Chrysler Pacifica traveling westbound.

The driver of the Ford Fusion suffered severe injuries and was flown by helicopter to an area hospital. The driver of the Chrysler Pacifica was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officials say the driver of the Ford Fusion is suspected of operating while intoxicated, and charges are expected to be referred to the Trempealeau County District Attorney’s Office.

The crash remains under investigation.

Multiple agencies assisted at the scene, including the Wisconsin State Patrol, Independence Police Department, Whitehall and Independence Fire Departments, Tri-County Ambulance, and Mayo One.
