With more than one in three Wisconsin adults living with obesity, health experts say lifestyle changes and support can play an important role in long-term weight loss.

A Hixton man is proof of that. Kenneth Johnson lost more than 135 pounds through the non-profit organization TOPS—Take Off Pounds Sensibly. His achievement earned him the title of 2025 Wisconsin TOPS King after losing more weight than any other male member in the state while reaching his goal weight.

Johnson says regular exercise, portion control, and encouragement from fellow TOPS members were key to his success. He hopes sharing his story will inspire others who are working to improve their health.

TOPS is a nonprofit weight-loss education and support organization founded in 1948. The organization emphasizes long-term lifestyle changes rather than short-term dieting. In 2025, Wisconsin TOPS members collectively lost more than 8,300 pounds.
