As of Friday, the Hoffman Aquatic Center will be closed for a second summer. According to a press release, the City of Black River Falls said the difficult decision comes after continued maintenance issues. According to the City, nearly 200-thousand dollars in repairs was made earlier this year following the pool’s closure in 2023. Despite the repairs, the pool continues to lose around 20,000 gallons of water per day, making it difficult to maintain state mandated safe chemical levels and an acceptable water temperature. Parks and Recreation Director, Jarod Meyer, acknowledged the closure’s disappointment, especially to the community’s children and parents, noting the City prioritizes the health and safety of visitors to the Hoffman Aquatic Center above all else. Meyer says full refund of 2024 season passes or punch cards will be given at City Hall. The indoor pool at the Lunda Community Center remains open to the community.
