The Illinois State Police Division of Criminal Investigations Zone 8 is asking for the public’s help identifying a man whose remains were discovered in Lake Mattoon. On the evening of June 28, boaters spotted part of a human arm in the lake, prompting the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department to request that state police take over the investigation. Investigators say the arm has distinctive tattoos that may help identify the victim.
