The Jackson County Home and Community Education Organization hosted a babysitting clinic this past Saturday for about 40 local students in or entering seventh grade. The event was organized after officials noted the last clinic in the area was held in 2019.
Several community partners assisted, including the Jackson County Childcare Network, Black River Falls School District, Black River Health, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, and the Black River Falls Fire Department and EMS.
Students received training on babysitting guidelines, infant care, fire safety, first aid, CPR, and emergency response procedures. Each participant earned a certificate of completion.
Organizers say the clinic was a success and plan to offer it again next year.
