On September 23, 2024, a Deputy with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office located a
wanted subject at a residence in the city of Black River Falls. The subject was identified
as Jarred Mortenson, 34, of Black River Falls. Mortenson had an active civil bench
warrant issued for his arrest through Jackson County.
During the investigation, a canine sniff of a vehicle was conducted by a Sheriff’s Office
Sergeant and K9 partner. A positive alert and subsequent search of the vehicle located
a large quantity of suspected heroin, marijuana, US currency, and a firearm.
The passenger of the vehicle, Thomas English, 43, of Black River Falls, was taken into
custody for possessing drugs with intent to deliver. He was also arrested for being a
felon in possession of a firearm.
Both English and Mortenson were held at the Jackson County Jail. The parties involved
are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
