On April 12, 2024, the Sheriff’s Office received a report of a stolen trailer, which contained an
ATV and thousands of dollars of property, from a residence in the Town of Adams. In the
following weeks, a string of other vehicle trailer thefts was reported in the Merrillan/Alma
Center area.
During the investigations, the Sheriff’s Office identified a suspect named Edward C. Decorah,
age 44, of Neillsville. Mr. Decorah was located and arrested in Jackson County at a residence
that also contained stolen property from surrounding counties.
The Sheriff’s Office has referred a large number of the theft cases to the Jackson County District
Attorney’s Office for felony and misdemeanor charging.
Some of these cases are still under investigation and anybody with information is encouraged
to contact the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
At this time, Mr. Decorah retains his presumption of innocence until adjudicated otherwise in a
court of law.
