Judith Lynne Peterson, age 82, of Black River Falls passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2023
at Lake Tomah Center. She was born on April 18, 1941 in Black River Falls, the daughter of Beth
Adelle (Helbling) and Norman Osborne Peterson.
Judy was and is a beautiful soul! Everyone will attest to that! Judy was a lifelong resident of
Black River Falls. She loved her life in this beautiful community and refused to ever leave her
home and friends. She spoke frequently about you all and served many of you at the local
Krohn Clinic until she retired and then cared for her mother until her passing. Judy also loved
her local church family at Evangelical Lutheran Church, the ladies Bible study and volunteering
where possible whether it be folding newsletters or serving meals. I think Judy would agree
with me if she were here – she loved her family most of all. She would tell you that there is
nothing more important but to love hard and love well; serve those you love and call them
often. She would tell you not to lose hope because if you know Jesus you will never have to say
“goodbye” to them! She is celebrating a grand homecoming with her mom and dad today and
will one day welcome us to ours.
Judy is survived by brother, Joel Peterson, and his wife, Bonnie, of Albuquerque, NM; niece,
Kimberly Maycumber, and her husband, Mark, of Smithville, TX and their sons, Marc, Cody,
Marshall and Connor and their spouses and children; niece, Kristin Shero, and her husband,
Mike, of Aledo, TX and their daughters, Michaelee and Michinzy; niece, Kendall Cutler, and her
husband, Jay, from Oakridge, TN and their children, Addyson, Bonnee, Caiden and Dellanie;
nephew, Jeffrey Peterson, and his wife, Carie, of Meridian, ID and their children, Steven, Lucas,
and Rylie; cousin, Sue Gaede, of Black River Falls, WI.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Beth Adelle (Helbling) Peterson, and father, Norman
Osborne Peterson.
The family is planning a Celebration of Life Service in the spring. Details will be forthcoming.
