Judy Ann Thompson (Saunders), 61, of Wisconsin, passed away peacefully with family
by her side on May 26, 2026, at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse after a
courageous battle with Stage 4 metastatic lung cancer.
Born July 8, 1964, in Great Lakes, Illinois, to Duane “Gene” Saunders and Takaki
“Butch” Saunders, Judy dedicated her life to caring for others as a CNA, hospice
caregiver, EMT, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was known for her strength,
compassion, honesty, humor, and unwavering devotion to her family and community.
Judy is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Randy Thompson; her children,
Tonya (Eric) Robers, Trisha Jacox, and Randy G. Thompson; 10 grandchildren; and her
beloved dog, Nova. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A celebration of Judy’s life will be held Saturday, August 22 nd , at the Black River Falls
Legion Post 200 from 12:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. The family asks that Judy be
remembered for the love, laughter, and kindness she shared so freely with others.
