Karena Lea (Snake) Custodio, age 45, of Black River Falls, WI, passed away on August 22, 2023, at
Gunderson Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, WI, surrounded by her family. She was born on July
28, 1978 in Black River Falls, the daughter of Norman D. Snake Sr. and Cheryl Lynn Decorah. She worked various jobs for the Ho-Chunk Nation. She enjoyed doing arts and crafts, baking, and
spending time with family and friends. Karena had a big heart; continuously trying to help others no
matter her own situation. Karena is survived by her children, Miguel (Winnie) Custodio Jr., Alejandro (Thea) Rodriguez, Michaela
(Isaias) Custodio, and Marissa (Jordan) Stabler; sister, Tricia Snake-Custodio; brother, Marlin Keith
Snake; grandchildren, Taylan, Benson, Anevay, Xavier, Eliyanah, Ezra, and Liyana; and aunts, Gloria Perez
and Doris Cummings. She is preceded in death by her parents, Norman Sr. and Cheryl Snake; siblings, Norman Snake Jr.; and
son, Darus Stabler. Funeral services for Karena will take place Friday, August 25, 2023, at the District One Community
Center at 12:00 p.m. Shannon Rave will officiate. Friends and family are invited to visitation from 10:00
a.m. until time of service. There will also be a visitation on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at the Buswell
Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Burial will immediately follow the service at the Decorah
Cemetery. The Buswell Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements, 715-284-2231.
