Karl Harold Gunderson, age 73, of rural Blair, died on Sunday, April 29, 2024 in
the Gundersen Tri-County Hospital in Whitehall.
Karl was born on September 18, 1950 in Whitehall to Syver Harold and Borghild
(Kvaalseth) Gunderson. He married Marilyn Kreher on June 13, 1981 in Arcadia.
Karl was employed at the Whitehall Packing Plant, Quarne Farms, D&D Builders
and Ashley Furniture Industries prior to his retirement in 2012.
Karl was a founding member of the Blair Sportsmen’s club and a past member of
the Arcadia Valley Coon Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping and
complaining. Karl also enjoyed spending time with his family at home and at the
cabin near Winter.
Karl is survived by his wife, Marilyn; his children, Laura (Joey) Janzen of Blair,
Tammy Mish of Blair and John (Nicole Nelson) Gunderson of Whitehall; his
grandchildren, Layna (Ian Kyle) Janzen, Jacob Janzen, Riley Gunderson, Isabella
Mish, Nyra Gunderson and Korbin Gunderson; a sister, Andrea (Stef) Satterlund
of Barron; his life-long friends, Don, Jim and Gary Jahr and the late Mike Nelson
and his special friend, Keith Ekern. He also had many friends in the Amish
community.
In addition to his parents, Karl was preceded in death by infant twins and a son-
in-law, Chris Mish.
Karl’s family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Gundersen Tri-
County Memorial Hospital in Whitehall and the Gundersen Health System in
LaCrosse for their care during Karl’s multiple hospital stays.
A celebration of Karl’s life will be held on Friday, May 17, 2024 from 3-7 p.m. in
the Blair Sportsmen’s Club in rural Blair.
The Jack Funeral Home in Blair is assisting the family with arrangements.
