Kevin Mitskogen, age 56 passed away unexpectedly on July 1, 2023, in a tragic car accident.
Kevin was born on November 30, 1966 in Black River Falls to Philip Mitskogen and AliceRae
Nelson.
Kevin was a 1986 graduate of Black River Falls Senior High School. Kevin worked several other
jobs before his career at D&S Manufacturing as a welder for the last 17 years. Kevin took great
pride in working at D&S. He was very hardworking, reliable, and a great welder. He enjoyed
mentoring the new people there.
Kevin was first and foremost a father, grandfather, son, brother, and uncle.
Kevin was the only brother to his sisters and he surely lived up to that. Kevin was known to his
family as “Skeeto” A nickname that was given to him by Uncle Darwin and would follow him his
entire life. Kevin enjoyed living a humble quiet life in the country doing the things he enjoyed,
hunting, fishing, target shooting, ATVing, making his famous beef jerky that always contained
“a surprise in every bag.” Which usually meant a piece unbelievably hot and spicy. He was
known to his family as a jokester always planning his next prank. For many years he not only
worked full-time but also helped on the family farm. Kevin took great pride in always being
there for his family members, and helping in any way that he was able, he was one who his
family could always count on. Kevin will be greatly missed by many, especially his family.
Kevin was most proud of his only child, son Daniel, and granddaughter Elyza. Kevin cherished
his time with them. Kevin was a wonderful uncle and mentor to many of his nieces and
nephews.
Kevin is survived by his son, Daniel Mitskogen (Amanda), and granddaughter Elyza of Mondovi;
father, Philip Mitskogen of Black River Falls, mother and step-father AliceRae and Dan Nelson of
Beloit WI; sister Lori (Paul) Herbenson of Mondovi; sister Melanie (Dave) Bohac of Neilsville;
