Kristine L. (Fox) Richards, lovingly known as Kris or Krissy, age 58, a beloved mother,
grandmother, partner, sister, and friend, passed away on Wednesday, October 8, 2025,
surrounded by her family.
Born on October 6, 1967, in Tomah, Wisconsin to Leonard (Lenny) and Kay (Rogge)
Fox, Kris’ life was a shining example of kindness, strength, and unconditional love. Her
gentle spirit and generous heart touched not only her children and grandchildren but
countless others who had the privilege of knowing her.
For Kris, family was everything. She adored her children and grandchildren and would
do anything for them. She loved holiday traditions, camping trips, family vacations,
working out and playing cards. She especially enjoyed planning the menu for camping
trips, making sure her children, grandchildren, special niece and nephew had their
favorites. She absolutely loved watching her kids play sports. She was born to play the
role of mother and grandmother—her face lit up with pure joy whenever she was with
her family.
A 1985 graduate of Tomah High School, Kris began her federal career at Fort McCoy in
2002, working in the Military Pay Office. She later transferred to the USPFO at Camp
Douglas, where she served as a Budget Analyst. During her time at the WIARNG, she
was honored with four temporary promotions to the role of Budget Officer—a position
typically held by Army Officers. Kris brought intelligence, integrity, and dedication to her
work, all while balancing her roles as a nurturing mother and grandmother with grace
and strength.
In 1996, Kris married Dave Richards, and together they welcomed their daughter,
Mikayla. Though they later divorced, Kris went on to meet Corey Clay in 2003, and they
shared over 20 loving years together, welcoming their son, Carson. Kris created a home
filled with love and support—always encouraging her children to follow their dreams,
while offering wisdom, comfort, and unwavering belief in them. Her happiest moments
were those spent with her loved ones.
Kris is survived by her daughter, Mikayla (Alex) Maas; her grandchildren, Leni and Millie
Jo Maas; and her son, Carson Clay. She is also survived by her fiancée, Corey Clay;
her mother, Kay Fox; her sister, Cindy (Dan) Koel; her brother, Cory (Shae) Fox; and
her special nieces and nephews, Skylar (Ryan) Koel, Nathan (Leti) Koel, Dylan Koel,
Cassidy Fox, and Caleb Fox. She is also remembered by many aunts, uncles, cousins,
and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lenny Fox.
A private family service will be held, followed by a public celebration of life on Saturday,
October 18, 2025, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at The Double Barrel in Tomah, Wisconsin.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family toward a memorial fund in Kris’s
honor.
