16 year old Kamitri Riles is being charged as an adult in the homicide of his young niece in La Crosse on June 14. 

Officers were called to a residence on Winneshiek Road and determined that the young girl was dead. They observed obvious injuries to her face and bruising on her body. 

It was reported that Kamitri was babysitting his niece and some other kids at the home. When the young girl began crying, Kamitri said he got frustrated. Although he initially stated he didn’t do anything to the youngster, he later told officers that he hit her and pushed her. He said she was bleeding so he put her into bed. Hours later, the child was found dead by her mother. The mother told Kamitri to call 911. 

He is currently  being held in the La Crosse County Jail awaiting trial and has a $250,000 cash bond. Kamitri  faces one count of 1st degree intentional homicide.
