Lorraine A. Turnmire (La Faunge) passed away peacefully January 3rd, 2024, at the age of 87.
Lorraine was born in Rockford, Illinois on March 13th, 1936, to Edward and Anna La Faunge. Lorraine
was a graduate of Black River Falls High School. After school she had a couple of jobs, but eventually
went on to be the Postmaster of the Millston Post Office from which she retired from in 2005.
Lorraine was a selfless woman who would give you the shirt off her back. She loved feeding and
watching the birds and she was known to take in stray cats and help them live a better life. She loved it
when her grandchildren would come and spend time with her. She enjoyed chatting with her friends,
going out for lunch, taking walks and bike rides around Millston and of course watching Young and the
Restless. Lorraine was also involved in local groups in Millston and even received recognition as citizen
of the year.
Lorraine will be deeply missed for her spunky personality, and her love for helping others, big and small.
She is survived by her son, David Turnmire; grandchildren, Amanda Cleasby, Sarah Verwiebe, Andrew
Turnmire, Donnie Turnmire and Michael Kurtz; and numerous greatgrandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Edward and Anna La Faunge; former husband
Donald Turnmire; her sons, Mark and Jody Turnmire; her brother Dale; and sisters, Audrey and Virgina.
Visitation for Lorraine will be held on January 14th at 3 p.m until 4 p.m. at the Millston Union Church,
services will follow at 4 p.m. following a luncheon afterwards.
A special thank you to Amanda Cleasby for all the help she has provided.
Torgerson’s Funeral Service is assisting with arrangements, 715-284-4321.
