Maj. Gen. Matthew Strub officially became Wisconsin’s 32nd adjutant general during a change of authority ceremony held April 21 in the State Capitol assembly chamber.
Strub, formerly the deputy adjutant general for Army, now leads the Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs and commands over 7,000 Airmen and Soldiers in the Wisconsin National Guard.
Governor Tony Evers administered the oath of office, praising Strub’s nearly four decades of military service, including deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, and his leadership during domestic disaster missions.
Strub, a master aviator with more than 3,600 flying hours, emphasized readiness, wellness, and continued excellence as top priorities in his new role.
He succeeds Brig. Gen. David May, who served as interim adjutant general for the past 10 months.
