Marion Kay (Pederson) Call, 87, of Osseo, Wis, passed away unexpectedly on Friday,
September 27, 2024 at the Mayo Clinic Health System in Osseo. She was surrounded
by her loving family.
Marion was born on the family farm in Whitehall, Wis on April 11, 1937 to Joseph and
Eleanor (Anderson) Pederson. After graduating from Whitehall High School, she met
the love of her life, James (Jim) Call, Jr. They met at a social event where Jim’s friend
dared him to go ask the tall, beautiful woman across the room to dance with him. To his
surprise, she said yes. They were united in marriage on September 21, 1957. They
lived happily together on the Call family farm, south of Osseo for over 50 years.
Marion was the definition of a farmer’s wife. Besides keeping busy cooking, cleaning
and caring for their three sons, Marion helped out in the dairy and poultry barn. After her
kids were grown, she babysat for several of her neighbor’s children.
Marion was also very active in 4H, FFA and the Kings Valley Lutheran Church. She
was a member of the Church’s WELCA group, worked as a ladies aid, and participated
in the Osseo Women’s Birthday Club. Marion was an incredible cook and baker. She
will especially be remembered for her apple pies made from the apple tree on their
farm, her famous chocolate chip cookies, and her delicious mashed potatoes, which
were requested by her granddaughter for every family gathering.
Marion is survived by her three sons, Steve Call of Osseo, David Call of Osseo, Warren
(Mary Temp) Call of Onalaska; granddaughter, Maci Call of Onalaska; sisters, Barbara
Rolfing of Winona, Minn., Rose Everson of Blair, Wis.; and brother, Kermit (Sharon)
Pederson, of Whitehall, Wis., as well as many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Jim, her parents, Joseph and
Eleanor, and a sister, Joanne.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 5, 2024, at Kings Valley Lutheran
Church, Osseo. Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm until time of service at 1:00 pm.
The Pastor David Christianson will be officiating. Burial will follow in the church
cemetery.
Schiefelbein Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
