Marshfield Clinic has received nearly 580-thousand dollars in federal funding to expand mental health awareness, education, and access to services across central and northern Wisconsin.
The three-year grant was awarded by the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.
The funding will support training to help community members and healthcare staff recognize mental health concerns, respond to crises, and connect young people with appropriate care.
The program will serve a 17-county region, with special focus on six counties: Barron, Clark, Oneida, Price, Rusk, and Vilas. These areas face challenges including shortages of mental health professionals, limited transportation, and difficulty accessing care.
The grant will also support community outreach, improved referral systems, and a mental health navigator to help individuals find appropriate services.
The goal is to identify mental health concerns earlier and make it easier for youth and young adults to access behavioral health and crisis support.
