Martha Elizabeth Bisek passed away peacefully on October 23, 2022, at the beautiful age of 102.
Martha was born on July 29, 1920, to Joseph and Elizabeth Slaby. She grew up on the farm
learning to work hard, can, cook, bake and enjoy nature with her 7 siblings who await her in
heaven; Pete, Edmund, Roman, Luke, Andrew, George and Helen.
She married Thomas R. Bisek in 1942 and said she was promised the moon, which took the
form of trips to see the Brewers, several businesses, 3 daughters; Angie, Doris and Barbara; four
grandchildren: Ben, Garrett, Claire and Mari; great-grandchildren: Hadley, Jillian and Jameson.
Martha lost Tom in 1964 and continued to operate Bisek’s Bar and Ballroom until she retired at
the age of 72. Her work ethic is inspiring, she never put off doing the hard thing, as she said
easy things will follow.
Martha loved being with family and friends, dancing the polka, gardening, raking, bingo,
canning, caring for babies, doing wordsearches, shaking dice, watching daily mass rosary,
traveling, picking cherries, apples, blueberries or anything else that grew.
Kindness, generosity, and love define Martha. She was always up for an adventure and often
said, “why wouldn’t we… go, attend, do that.” She lived every day to the fullest, always chose
joy, and finally rests peacefully.
Special thanks to St Croix Hospice and Inclusa for their loving care, kindness and support.
Donations can be made to SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church Hall Restoration Fund.
