Mary J Dahl  died on December 8, 2021 at the age of 86 at Lake Hallie Memory Care in Lake
Hallie, WI.  She was born on September 18, 1935 in Whitehall, WI to Oswald Klomsten and
Alvina (Hansen) Klomsten.  She grew up in Whitehall and graduated from Whitehall High
School.

Mary met Delmar at a dance at Lakeshore Pavilion in Hixton, WI. She knew she found her love
when she watched this man walk across the dance floor to her with his arm outstretched and say:
“I don’t know how to dance but will you please dance with me?”  She said yes and then carefully
guided his steps in the hopes that she would put him at ease.  They danced the rest of the
evening.

Delmar and Mary were married on February 17, 1956 and eventually moved to Whitehall to raise
their two daughters, Denise and Jennifer.  A few years passed and they accepted the opportunity
to relocate to Black River Falls where they built their home and their lives together.

Mary loved life as a homemaker and spent her time doing many things her family enjoyed and
appreciated.  She had many talents.  She could write stories and create amazing imaginative mini
stories which were always a joy to listen to before bed or whenever someone wasn’t feeling
well.  She excelled at making Norwegian specialty treats and homemade breads.  It wasn’t
unusual to come home to the smell of fresh bread, chocolate chip cookies or stews on the
stovetop.

Mary was preceded in death by her mother and father as well as a sister.  Mary was dedicated to
Delmar and always wanted to make sure she left this earth before he did, so it’s fitting that they
both left on the same day.   Delmar left first, and we are sure it was to make sure everything was
just perfect for her when she arrived to be with him.

She is survived by her two daughters, Denise and Jennifer, both currently in Eau Claire, WI, Two
sons-in-law, two grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Bette
of Washington state, Bonnie of Black River Falls,  and two brothers, Ozzie of Trempeauleau and
Jerry of Illinois along with many nieces and nephews located throughout the United States.

A viewing will be held at Torgerson’s Funeral Home alongside with her husband, Delmar, on
Thursday, December 16 th , 2021.   They both had experienced sudden illnesses that facilitated
their deaths.
The Torgerson Funeral Home, 408 N. Water St. Black River Falls, WI 54615, is assisting the
family with arrangements (715-284-4321).
