Mava Laursen, age 85, passed away Saturday December 28, 2024 peacefully at the Pigeon
Falls Health Care Center.
Mava was born in rural Shawano County, Wisconsin.  Mava graduated from Marion High School
(she was a “Pigeon” before she was from Pigeon!)  She married Martin Laursen in Washington
State in 1962.  They began their married life near Union Grove, Wisconsin and moved to rural
Pigeon Falls in 1970 where they raised their three children, Peter, Penny and Paul.  Throughout
her lifetime, Mava worked for Northwestern Mutual Life, Tiffany Tie & Lumber and as the deputy
treasurer of Trempealeau County for many years.
Mava loved to fish, dance and watch the Green Bay Packers with Marty.  She loved visiting with
her neighbor, Joan, getting together with her Saturday Breakfast Club, and working with the
Women of the Peace Lutheran ELCA.  She is well known with family and friends for her “World
Famous” sugar cookies and other treats, along with her church supper gravy.  Mava gave her
children three valuable gifts – the gift of family, faith and food.
Mava is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and sister, Anita.  She is survived by her
children: Peter (Jennifer); Penny (Arlan); and Paul (Brenda) and the joys of her life – her five
grandchildren: Kara (Matt); Shawn (Courtney); Alaina (James); Lucas; and Carter (Jade). She is
also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at 4PM at Peace Lutheran Church
of Pigeon Falls, Wisconsin.  Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 2:30 PM.
The family would like to thank the staff of Pigeon Falls Health Care Center for their exceptional
care of Mava.
Jack Funeral Home of Whitehall is assisting the family.
