A Milwaukee woman is facing criminal charges after allegedly submitting more than one million dollars in fraudulent claims to Wisconsin’s Medicaid program.

Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul announced Thursday that 53-year-old Caprice Mathies-Hill allegedly received more than 470-thousand dollars in payments she was not entitled to.

According to the criminal complaint, Mathies-Hill operated an agency called Abby’s Clubhouse, which allegedly submitted claims for prenatal care coordination and childcare coordination services that were never provided.

Investigators allege the agency recruited members by offering items such as diapers and baby wipes, then billed Medicaid for hundreds of thousands of dollars in two-hour care services that never took place.

The alleged activity occurred between November 2020 and October 2023.

Mathies-Hill faces four felony counts, including theft by fraud, public assistance fraud and wire fraud.

The case was referred to the Wisconsin Department of Justice by the Department of Health Services’ Office of the Inspector General.

The charges are allegations, and Mathies-Hill is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
