The Monroe County Health Department is recognizing National Fentanyl Awareness Day on April 29th, raising awareness about the growing dangers of fentanyl and promoting life-saving prevention efforts.
Officials say fentanyl is an अत्यremely powerful drug involved in a rising number of overdoses, often without users knowing it’s present. Residents are encouraged to never use drugs alone, learn the signs of overdose, call 911 in an emergency, and carry naloxone, also known as Narcan, which is available without a prescription.
The Health Department also stresses the importance of talking with family and youth about fentanyl risks and using test strips to detect the drug.
Free naloxone, education, and harm reduction resources are available through the Monroe County Health Department. For more information, call 608-269-8666 or visit their website.
