A new Black River Crossing is the focus of an upcoming Planning Corridor Study. According to a letter sent to Black River area residents, Jackson County Highway Commissioner Jay Borek and Jewell Associates Project Manager Scott Whitsett will host a Public Involvement Meeting. The purpose: the planning of a new bridge crossing over the Black River. The public meeting is set for this Wednesday, from 5:00 to 7:00 at Jackson County Health and Human Services. A brief presentation summarizing the history of the planning study, along with preliminary project corridors will be given. Exhibits and maps will be on display for review and comment. Planners say the study hopes to determine routes for a proposed new Black River bridge located south of Black River Falls connecting State Highways 27 and 54. Persons with knowledge about historic buildings and structures and archaeological sites, along with general concerns and questions about the project are encouraged to attend Wednesday’s public meeting; again 5:00 to 7:00 at Jackson County Health and Human Services.
