(Cincinnati, OH) — The sports world is hitting pause after the NFL suspended play Monday night. It happened during a key contest between the Cincinnati Bengals and Buffalo Bills. Bills’ safety Damar Hamlin collapsed after making a tackle and life-supporting measures had to be made on the field. Coaches and players were visibly shaken. Some were openly sobbing. He was taken off the field by ambulance to a hospital and is listed in critical condition.

The Buffalo Bills have released a statement about safety Damar Hamlin. The team said Hamlin “suffered a cardiac arrest” following a hit in Monday’s game against the Bengals in Cincinnati. The statement went on to say “His heartbeat was restored on the field and he was transferred to UC Medical Center for further testing and treatment. He is currently sedated and listed in critical condition.” The game was suspended until further notice.
