At approximately 4:40 pm on October 16th, 2025, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office was made aware
of an online threat in which the apparent target was the Melrose-Mindoro School, located at N181
State Rd. 108, Village of Melrose, Jackson County, Wisconsin.
Personnel from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, the Melrose-Mindoro School District, the La
Crosse County Sheriff’s Office, and the La Crosse County Department of Health and Human Services
worked collaboratively to investigate this incident and mitigate the threat. The school district kept
parents informed of the status of the situation with district-wide notifications, both last night and this
morning.
No further threat exists in relation to this particular incident. We thank those who brought this threat to
the prompt attention of the school district and law enforcement, ensuring our ability to act quickly and
decisively to protect all students.
The subject involved in this incident is a juvenile, and in accordance with Wis. Stat. § 938.396(1)(a),
no further information can be released.
