MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) today announced the winners of the Keep Wildlife Wild poster contest. . Of the children in Wisconsin who particitated, Fifth Grader Avery Helland from Osseo won 2nd place in her category.

This year’s theme was “If You Care, Leave Them There.” Fourth, fifth and sixth graders across Wisconsin were invited to submit posters that spread the word about keeping all wildlife healthy and, most importantly, wild.  The DNR encourages students of all ages to learn how they can help keep wild animals in Wisconsin safe and healthy by visiting the Keep Wildlife Wild webpage.

The other winners are as follows:

Fourth-grade winners:

  • First place: Elsa Wright from Suamico
  • Second place: Emerson Szerenyi from Delafield
  • Third place: Abigail Herbert from Wauwatosa

Fifth-grade winners:

  • First place: Thisbe Ellis from Freedom
  • Second place: Avery Helland from Osseo
  • Third place: Charlotte Jaskolski from Delafield

Sixth-grade winners:

  • First place: Scarlett Olson from Suring
  • Second place: Daphne Ellis from Freedom
  • Third place: Sanjivani Swaminathan from Greenville
