Patricia Krage, 87, formerly of Independence, died at Brookside Care Center in Kenosha, WI
on Sunday, November 5, 2023.
Patricia was born in Fountain City on July 30, 1936, the daughter of Daniel and Esther (Walski) Duellman.
She married Leighton Krage on August 29, 1959. She received a teaching degree after 3 years of study at
Winona State College and moved to Racine, WI to become a kindergarten teacher at Garfield School. In
1967, she became the director of Little Lamb Nursery School at Emmanuel Lutheran Church where she
shepherded over 1,500 three- and four-year olds over her 30-year tenure. She was known for her
strong, gentle nature, her sensitivity to the children’s feelings and their need to feel valued. After
Leighton and Pat’s retirement, they moved to Independence where she taught at Sts. Peter and Paul
School and the Independence Public Library. Leighton passed away in 2010, and a few years later she
moved back to Racine, WI and conducted story time at Goodland School and West Ridge School. Her
love for children and reading books also continued with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her two daughters: Sally (Peter) McClellan of Fort Myers, FL and Lisa (Kevin)
Loew of Racine, WI; five grandchildren: John (Becca), Daniel and Julia McClellan, Erin (Evoido
Garcia) Loew and Chris Loew; eleven great-grandchildren: Peter, Mya, Natalie, Faith, Bella,
Chloe, Vinny, Emma, Alayna, Aleah and Jarisela; brothers: Don (Judy) Duellman, David (Mary
Ann) Duellman; sisters: Bonnie (Bob) Valentine and Kay Haines; and sister-in-law: Kay. She was preceded
in death by her husband, Leighton and brother, Duane.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at Sts. Peter and
Paul Catholic Church, 36028 Osseo Rd. in Independence, WI 54747, with Father George
Thayilkuzhithottu officiating. Family and friends are welcome for visitation beginning one hour prior to
the service at church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers and if so inclined, Patricia’s
family
would love her to be honored with memorial donations to the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic School, 36100
