Jackson County Emergency Management says it responded Thursday afternoon after receiving an email expressing concerns about conditions at Pine View Care Center.

The email, received at 2:52 p.m. on July 16, raised concerns about indoor temperatures and air quality due to wildfire smoke affecting the region from Northern Minnesota and Canada.

Emergency Management immediately notified several community partners, including the Black River Falls Mayor’s Office and Jackson County Health and Human Services. Officials also responded to Pine View Care Center to speak with facility representatives.

According to the facility, staff were already aware of the temperature concerns and had scheduled HVAC service for Friday, July 17.

Emergency Management says none of the community partners requested additional services or equipment. Officials add they remain available to provide support if assistance is requested by local or state authorities.

With warm weather continuing, Jackson County Emergency Management reminds residents to stay hydrated, take frequent breaks, avoid strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day, ensure animals have adequate shelter and water, and never leave children or pets unattended in vehicles.
