(Racine, WI) — Racine County’s sheriff is calling a shooting at a local hospital yesterday a case of self defense. The sheriff says a deputy was guarding a hospitalized arson suspect when the suspect attacked. During the fight the deputy fired her pistol, wounding the suspect. The deputy wasn’t wounded, and it’s not clear if she was hurt. Investigators say it happened about 1 a.m. yesterday at Ascension All Saints Hospital. The hospital says safety is its top priority, but couldn’t comment on the shooting.
