The Monroe County Health Department has recently become an agent for the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) for the State of Wisconsin and is responsible for licensing and inspections for retail food establishments, lodging establishments, and swimming pools in Monroe County.
All tourist rooming houses, bed and breakfasts, and other lodging facilities are required to be licensed under Wisconsin Administrative Code, Chapter ATCP 72. This includes any properties being used for short-term vacation rentals, even if only operating in this capacity for a portion of the year.
Please contact the Monroe County Health Department to learn more and to complete your licensing application, no later than Monday, June 30, 2025. Facilities found operating without a license after this date may be charged a $750 fee for operating without a license.
More information can be found and a printable application can be found on the Monroe County Health Department website at https://www.co.monroe.wi.us/departments/health-department/our-services/environmental-health/licensing.
