Roald “Bing” Arlan Berg, age 90, of Blair, died on Thursday, September 18, 2025.
Roald was born on October 12, 1934 in Whitehall to Iver O. and Alma (Hjelsand)
Berg. He married Marlene Carol Evenson on June 28, 1959 in Walworth, WI.
Marlene preceded Roald in death on September 3, 2020.
“Bing,” as he was better known as by all, grew up in the Blair area and attended
country school before his family moved to town. After high school, he joined the
Army and served during the Korean War. After being honorably discharged from
the military, he worked at Admiral in Walworth where he met Marlene. They
moved to Blair where he worked at the Thompson’s Shell Station followed by
being employed by the City of Blair for over 30 years. After retiring from the
City, he also cleaned and maintained the laundromat and worked at Countryside
Lefse. In addition to working, he enjoyed woodworking, hunting, riding his
scooter, reading about history, and listening to music.
Roald is survived by their son, Michael (Sandra) Berg of Lancaster, WI and
daughter, Jennifer (Robert) Storlie of Harmony, MN; six grandchildren, five great-
grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild with another on the way. He also has
a sister, Naomi Peterson of Covina, CA and a brother, Erling Berg of Duluth, MN
also as survivors.
In addition to his parents and wife, Roald was preceded in death by their son,
Edward Berg, brothers Stanley Berg, Ivan W. Berg, and David Berg.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in
the Rest Haven Cemetery in Blair with Scott W. Brown – SAM officiating. Military
rites will be conducted by the Knudtson-Mattison American Legion Post #231.
Lunch and fellowship will follow in the Schroeder Memorial Shelter in the Blair
Park.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 25, 2025 from 4-6 p.m. in the Jack Funeral
Home in Blair.
