UW-Extension Clark County and DeLaval are hosting an open house at Dukestead Acres on Tuesday, April 9 th , from 10-11:30 am.   The farm is located at W1217 Willow Road Abbotsford, WI 54405.
Interest in robotic milking and dairy automation continues to rise.  This open house will present multiple
technologies and automations used in modern dairy production.  The Dukelow family will be showcasing their facilities, which retrofitted 7 robotic milkers to their existing barn in 2022.  Cow performance and data is analyzed
by individual ear tags, which monitor cow health and reproduction while also providing exact locations of cows at all times within the barn.  To further reduce labor demands, the farm utilizes manure alley scrapers, automated
feed pushers, and a robotic bedding system of manure solids.  With the utilization of these technologies, milk production and reproduction rates have increased, while removing manual labor units.
In addition to the farm tour, Dr. Nesli Onuki of UW-Madison will be presenting research on ventilation of robotic dairy barns.
Those who are interested in learning more about dairy automation are encouraged to attend to learn about cutting edge technologies.
Questions about the event can be directed to Matt Lippert, UW-Extension Dairy & Livestock Educator Clark County at 715-743-5121 or Richard Franta, DeLaval Solution Support Specialist, 715-245-7717.
