Rodney “Spud” R. Reck, 79, of Arcadia, died on Friday, January 26, 2024, at Gundersen Tri-County
Hospital in Whitehall.
Spud was born in Glencoe on July 20, 1944, to Rudolph and Vera (Katzbahn) Reck. Though he never
married, Spud was a devoted family man, and loved spending time with his nieces and nephews. Spud
drove semitruck over the road for Pehler Transport, and was always proud of his cab over Macks. He
also helped to transport cars for Rudy’s Pontiac Dealership in Whitehall, Bautch Motors in Arcadia, and
volunteered as a patient driver for the area hospitals. He loved to socialize downtown visiting at Kozy
Kitchen with friends. In his earlier years, Spud enjoyed fishing, hunting, wearing his cowboy boots, and
in recent years mowing his lawn on his John Deere 317. Spud was a member of Holy Family Parish, the
State Bank of Arcadia Heritage Club, and a former member of the Knights of Columbus.
Spud is survived by his sister: Doreen (Richard) Bremer of Arcadia; brother: Franklin (Joelene) Reck of
Brookfield; and many nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Rodney’s family would like to thank Gundersen Tri County Hospital for the care they gave him, along
with a special thank you to Cory, Christy and Cindy for all the extra’s they did for Uncle Spud.
Family and friends are welcome for visitation from 4-6 PM on Friday, February 9, 2024, at the Wozney-
Killian Funeral Home, Arcadia, where there will be a Memorial Service beginning at 6 PM with Father
Kyle Laylan officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Calvary Cemetery, rural Arcadia. To express
