Ruby May Mickelson passed away at the age of 97 on August 28th, 2023 at 7:01 pm. She died
peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones, in the place she resided, at Meadowbrook Assisted
Living in Black River Falls. She left this earth to be reunited with her husband Warren, son John,
and many siblings and loving parents.
Ruby grew up on a farm in Puxico, Missouri. After she left home, she married Warren Mickelson
and they ran a dairy farm in Rio, Wisconsin. Ruby was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
She took pride in her home wherever she lived, and was an avid collector. She was very
talented creatively, especially with cross stitch and embroidery work. Ruby’s greatest joy was
spending time with her grandchildren. She blessed them with her undivided attention by playing
games with them, coloring, baking, and let’s not forget a lot of laughter. The memories and
traditions she created with them will live on forever in generations to follow.
Ruby is survived by her daughter Donna Lang (David); granddaughters, Stacey Parker
(Jeremy), Heather Roberts (Steve), Kim Hutchens (Charles), Shana Toombs (James), and
Stephanie Baerwolf (Ryan); great-grandchildren, Kaelyn Lang (Gary), Bailee Bragg (Taylor),
Jackson Parker, Sophia Parker, Lillyan Arndt, Isabella Carpenter, Sean Hutchens, Matilda
Baerwolf, Rosie Toombs, Eloise Baerwolf, Betty Toombs; and a great-great-grandchild on the
way.
The funeral and burial will be held at the Otsego Cemetery at 11:30am on Friday, September
1st, 2023. Join us to celebrate Ruby’s life after the service at the Otsego Yacht Club on Hwy 16,
in Rio. Food and desserts will be provided.
