Rudolph P. Gamroth, 92, of Independence, Passed to Eternal Life on Thursday, September 1, 2022.
Beloved husband of the late Kathleen (Tado) Gamroth. Dear father of Greg (Dorothy Smith) Gamroth of
Independence, Debbie (Bill) Layton of Austin, TX, and Gail (Scott) Duelge of South Milwaukee. Loving
grandfather of Katie (Chris) Odegaard, Brett (Emily Marcou) Gamroth, Matt and Chad (Danielle) Goodall,
Kyle and Emily Duelge; and Step-Grandson, Jon Smieja. Great-grandchildren: Kellan and Camden
Odegaard and Xander Goodall; sister-in-law: Charlotte Gamroth of Independence; and many nieces,
nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Kathleen; brothers: George (Shirley) and Edward; and
sisters: Dorothy (Orace) Rogers and Helen (Chet) Kluz.
Rudolph was born on January 9, 1930, in Independence to Roman and Katherine (Libowski) Gamroth.
After graduating from high school, Rudolph enlisted into the United States Army and served during the
Korean War. After his honorable discharge, Rudolph moved to the Milwaukee area and worked as a
millwright first with Marquette Cement and then with AC Spark Plug Company. He was united in
marriage to Kathleen Sosalla on November 5, 1955, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in St. Francis. In his
spare time, Rudolph enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, the outdoors, and his polka music. After his
retirement, he would volunteer for local fundraising events and the church Fall Festival. He was a
member of S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, the Elk Creek Rod and Gun Club, and the Sura-Wiersgalla
American Legion Post #186.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on September 17, 2022, at S.S. Peter and Paul
Catholic Church with Reverend George Thayilkuzhitottu officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. until
the time of service at church. Military Rites will be presented following mass by the Sura-Wiersgalla
American Legion Post #186. Private Burial will be in Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery, St. Francis, WI. To
